About APM Insight
APM Insight is a professional development tracker built around the APM Competence Framework. It gives project professionals a single place to record what they have learned, understand the competences they are actually demonstrating, and turn that into a plan for their next role.
What the app does
You log continuing professional development activities — a course, a mentoring session, a difficult project milestone — together with the hours, the APM area and a short reflection on what changed in your practice. The app reads that reflection and suggests which of the 29 APM competences it evidences, across all four pillars of the framework. Those suggestions feed a competence matrix where you rate yourself from Aware to Expert, set a target for each competence and see exactly where the gaps are. An evidence vault keeps the supporting documents attached to the right activity or competence, and the development plan, gap analysis, career simulator and exportable reports turn your record into something you can act on, present and share.
Who it is for
APM Insight is for IT project managers, PMO analysts and delivery leads, and for anyone working towards APM qualifications such as PMQ, PPQ or Chartered status who needs to show what they have done. It suits experienced managers who want a clear view of how they compare with the framework, and people building towards their first project management role who want a structured route in. If you have to justify your development at an appraisal, a promotion panel or a professional review, the CPD log and the reports are designed for that conversation.
Who builds it
APM Insight is independently built and maintained by a practising IT project manager, together with other project professionals who use the APM framework day to day. It is not a corporate product: it began as a personal answer to the problem of keeping CPD evidence in a spreadsheet, and it keeps developing in response to feedback from the people using it. Your data stays yours — you decide what you log, what you attach and what you publish.
